We’ve already touched upon the benefits on installing aluminium windows in a previous blog post – this time round we’ve pulled out some of our favourite installations of aluminium windows in Sussex.
First off, this house displays a traditional ‘Sussex’ style window design of aluminium windows, featuring black frames with white opening sashes and vents.
The slim aluminium window frames give a less ‘built’ appearance, especially to the individual facets on the bay windows. This traditional design is completed by the use of ‘aged’ square leads on the glazing, adding some period charm to the house.
These aluminium windows in this dining room are a great example of stunning contemporary ‘picture’ windows; done by combining large and simple frames with slim anthracite grey aluminium.
The sashes can either be fixed or opening to retain the equal sightlines across all three windows – the only noticeable feature is the handle on the right-hand window to show that it actually is a top-hung opening casement window rather than a fixed window like the other two.
A large five-part bow bay in black aluminium. This again emphasises how much slimmer the frame and opening sashes are compared to PVCu – this allows more light into the room and provides a less obstructed view outside.
This property has had installed large anthracite grey aluminium windows that give a striking contemporary appearance.
Although this particular installation doesn’t use a ‘dummy’ sash to create equal sightlines, the sashes are large enough for this to be barely noticeable from a distance.
The grey windows and door work well with the white rendering and cedar cladding, to create a very modern facade.
A combination window featuring a single French door, a pair of opening sashes and a single vent, all in Chartwell Green.
This is an interesting example of making an aluminium window without equal sightlines still appear balanced – achieved by the simple addition of a transom under the two opening sashes, mirroring the proportions of the vent window in the middle.
