Aluminium window installation in Maresfield

We were delighted to be asked to replace the windows and doors throughout this beautiful character property in Maresfield, near Uckfield, East Sussex.

The owners, Tara and Rob, had recently purchased this classic Sussex cottage and were in the process of restoring it to its former glory.

Their new home included single glazed, Crittall windows. These had unattractive interior secondary glazing, which they were keen to replace.

In fitting new windows and doors, it was essential that they were in keeping with the style of the building. The new owners were also keen to improve their home’s energy efficiency. In particular, to keep it warm during the winter months, and minimise ongoing maintenance.

Selecting the right windows

We were replacing the original, Crittall style, steel windows. Aluminium windows were the obvious choice – a very close match in style, but much longer lasting and more energy efficient.

We showed Rob and Tara a range of options. We ultimately agreed that our Heritage range, powder coated in dark grey, would be the best choice.

These slim, stylish aluminium windows not only look great, they also have an energy efficiency A rating.

Finishing touches

To ensure that the new windows were in keeping with the age and style of the home, we surface-mounted ‘astragal’ Georgian-style bars on all windows and doors.

“Monkey tail” handles complete the authentic look.

Having bought an old cottage with single glazed Crittall windows and ugly secondary glazing we were looking for a window company that could supply new, energy efficient windows that looked right.
