Carolyn and Stephen’s lovely, character home in Ferring, East Sussex is the fourth we’ve had the pleasure of working on for them.
We were delighted to be invited back, this time to install replacement art deco windows and doors to improve their new home; a lovely 1930s detached property with some wonderful, original features.
Carolyn and Stephen had only recently moved to their new home, and had already undertaken improvements to the entire property. Their aim was to enhance the iconic 1930s style and character.
The right choice of windows was key to achieving the sympathetic renovation they intended.
White PVCu ‘flush sash’ windows were chosen, with a natural woodgrain finish, for the stunning restoration this character home deserves.
Our PVCu FlushSASH windows emulate the appearance of traditional timber with a highly realistic woodgrain finish.
The sashes fit flush into the frame, which reproduces the understated period style of 1930s windows.
As well as providing energy efficiency, security and sound insulation, PVCu windows are incredibly low maintenance and will stay looking great for years to come.
When it came to installing these replacement art deco style windows, the two bay windows to the front of the property presented a real opportunity for a wow-factor.
Not only the focal point of this home, they embody 1930s character.
Their seven sections wrap around the curved frontage, letting light flood into the home and showcasing the stunning FlushSASH design.
The horizontal astragal bars on the outside of the glass panes are reminiscent of the iconic Crittall windows of this period.
Astragal bars are an attractive and subtle way to emulate traditional features.
Carolyn and Stephen chose to include them throughout their home to bring a cohesive feel to this stunning renovation.
Carolyn and Stephen’s entrance door truly completes the character aesthetic.
They chose from our range of Duo composite doors, with their incredible combination of strength, security and longevity.
The traditional styles and limitless colour options available mean that this is an excellent contemporary solution to creating period style.
Duo composite doors are double rebated as standard. This means that they bring warmth, weather-resistance and noise insulation to your home.
The symmetrical design of Carolyn and Stephen’s door is perfectly in tune with the 1930s style.
The addition of side lighting and the etched door number bring a unique and personal touch.
Carolyn and Stephen are delighted with their newly renovated home.
They have not only commented on the improvements to the traditional aesthetics, but on the noticeably improved insulation.
So, they are now both happy and warm in their lovely character home!
