With a conservatory, creating the perfect room is child’s play

Conservatories, orangeries and glazed extensions are always more than the sum of their parts. The additional living space they provide can be transformative for a home, giving increased freedom and flexibility to those who enjoy it.

When it comes to how that room is used, we are always intrigued to see how our customers shape their new found space around their needs.

We explore some inspiring examples of how versatile a conservatory, orangery or glazed extension can be.

Breakfast club

Additional, casual dining space is a popular way to make the most of your conservatory.

Sometimes, this room doesn’t need to work too hard. It can be simply a haven to enjoy a garden view and feel the warmth of the sun through the windows, year-round.

The perfect place to sit and eat breakfast whilst planning your next project in the garden, somewhere to share tea and cake with friends, or a spontaneous meal in the evening.

Play time

A space to relax and have fun together was top of the agenda for the family whose home is pictured below.

Here, the wide, open living space has comfortable seating at one end, with space for games at the other. The bifold doors open fully to create inside out living when it’s wanted, and an unimpeded view of the garden when it isn’t.

The combination of solid and glazed roof panels was the perfect solution to ensure year-round comfort for this south-facing build.

Fresh air

For plant lovers, a conservatory or orangery can be the perfect excuse to fill a room with greenery.

There is something restful and refreshing about being in a room full of healthy plants. A great talking point over dinner and a very pleasant way to spend time ‘pottering’.

Conservatories and orangeries also make the ideal place to overwinter tender garden plants.

Homework

Working from home has become the norm for many people.

A conservatory, orangery or glazed extension is often the perfect way to create a versatile room that can be used for home working when needed.

For many households, it isn’t practical to work effectively from a corner of a busy kitchen table. Having a calm, dedicated space to work is much more conducive to being productive.

An inspiring view of the garden while working is also never a bad thing!

Dinner time

When a larger kitchen and dining space is something that would enhance your home, a glazed extension can provide the perfect solution.

With the project below, natural light was very important, so glazed panels stretch across the far edge of the extension, whilst carefully designed downlighting is built into the perimeter ceiling.

The curved island links open plan cooking and dining, whilst the kitchen sink and dining table overlook the garden. With this design, the homeowner achieved their goal of a bright, sociable space that seamlessly connects them to the outside.

Down time

Sometimes the sole purpose of a room is to do as little in it as possible.

A dedicated space to relax is as justified a reason for a conservatory, orangery or glazed extension as any other.

The room below provides pure comfort to sit and watch TV, read, or just gaze out at the garden under the stunning glazed roof.

Easy as one, two three

Hup!’ is a new way of building conservatories, orangeries and glazed extensions. The ground-breaking approach uses composite panels in place of traditional brick walls.

Hup! builds are fully compliant with building regulations, very quick to construct and highly energy efficient.

Following our design support, Hup! extensions are manufactured in the UK and much of the assembly is done off-site to minimise disruption. The construction takes place using a simple 3-step approach:

  1. Composite insulated panels create the robust structure. The panels clip together with millimetre precision.
  2. Your choice of roof is then put in place, whether this be a pitched roof, flat roof or lean-to design.
  3. The wall finish completes the build. These are available in traditional brick, timber or render options.

If you would like to be inspired by a new conservatory, orangery or glazed extension, we would be pleased to welcome you at our showroom.
